"Billy Wilkie brings brilliant technique, along with virtuosity, emotion, and his own personal charm to each performance" - Karen Greene
Billy began playing guitar at age 11. It didn't take long for him to discover his passion for the instrument, as well as a true love for all forms of music. A graduate of the University of Georgia, he holds a Bachelors of Music degree with a concentration in classical guitar.
Upon graduation, Billy immediately began his teaching career at several music studios in the north Georgia area. His teaching took him to Truett McConnell College where he taught both classical and jazz guitar. He also taught jazz arrangement, jazz combo, and jazz appreciation, all the while, improving his skills on guitar. His background from this time eventually led him to metro Atlanta where he continues to teach private lessons today.
In addition to being an in-demand performer on stage as well as in the studio, Billy is an avid songwriter, and has a portfolio of contracted songs in Nashville. He has had the distinct opportunity of working with such music legends as Ray Charles, The Ohio Players, Koko Taylor, The Atlanta Rhythm Section, Francine Reed, Jimmy Bruno, Gregg Allman,
Michael Bolton, and Tuck and Patti.
Billy can currently be seen around Atlanta at various clubs, jazz festivals, and restaurants with musicians like Nick Longo, Marea Alta, and Kip Dockery, among others.
He currently resides in Alpharetta, GA with his wife, Lisa, daughter Ella, and son Grigsby.
